The Edmonton Oilers drop Game seven to the Florida Panthers by a 2-1 final score. Even though the team didn't get the result they wanted, Connor McDavid received some recognition.
Although the Oilers did not win the Stanley Cup, the Conn Smythe Trophy was awarded to McDavid. He led the playoffs in scoring with 42 points in 24 games. In the process he broke Wayne Gretzky's record of assists in a single playoff year by recording 34 of his own.

McDavid also became the first player to ever record two back-to-back four point games in the Stanley Cup Final series.
This year was "cup or bust" for the Oilers. Even though the Oilers didn't win, they should truly be proud of what they were able to accomplish over the year. From tied for last place on November 10th to losing in the Stanley Cup Final.

The result was far from what they were wanting. But McDavid's ability to pull his team into the fight should be commended.
The team can't win an award with the efforts of just one player. McDavid and the Oilers should be proud of what they have accomplished this year.
