The Edmonton Oilers have officially announced that they have signed Sam Gagner to a PTO contract.

Oilers could put one of Connor Brown, Warren Foegele or Dylan Holloway into the top-6 spot vacated by Kailer Yamamoto.

The Edmonton Oilers have officially announced that they have signed forward Sam Gagner to a PTO contract.

It was rumored that the Oilers were signing Gagner to a PTO, and now it is official. This is great to see, as Gagner is a former fan favorite who has played nine seasons over two stints as an Oiler. He will now be looking to earn himself a contract for the year and officially begin his third stint with the club.

Gagner, 34, appeared in 48 games last season with the Winnipeg Jets, posting eight goals and 14 points.

The Oilers also confirmed the previously reported PTO for Brandon Sutter in their announcement. The veteran center is looking to resume his career after missing two straight seasons due to long COVID symptoms.

Gagner and Sutter are both competing for a bottom-six spot in the Oilers' lineup. Let's see if either player can earn a contract for the season from here.
