Lauren McDavid silenced speculation after a viral fashion post sparked trade theories, clarifying that her brand's expansion into rival territory doesn't signal a move for Edmonton’s captain.

No, just because Connor McDavid's wife was posing in Toronto Maple Leafs-themed clothing doesn't mean the couple headed to Ontario. Lauren (Kyle) McDavid, founder of Sports Club Atelier, shared a new Maple Leafs-inspired fleece sweater on Instagram.

And of course, some fans went nuts.

The brand began with Edmonton Oilers apparel before expanding through partnerships with Hockey Canada and a broader NHL license. But the moment Lauren posed in a jacket with a Toronto Maple Leafs logo, people came out of the woodwork to suggest there was a hidden meaning behind the post.

Is McDavid thinking about going to the Maple Leafs? Why wouldn't she pose in Oilers gear?

Lauren posted an update later, noting: "PSA: everyone needs to relax @sportsclubatelier is growing this year and expanding to 12 teams - we don't discriminate.. even the rivals. " The post also noted, "Obviously there's an Oilers version, duh."

So, yeah. McDavid's wife posing in a Maple Leafs jacket her company is helping design does not equate to the captain of the Oilers looking to make a move to Toronto. Everyone should be aware of this by now, but what fun would it be to keep from riling up Oilers fans?

Let's all take a deep breath. Camps are right around the corner, preseason starts in a couple of weeks and the regular season begins this month. There's a lot to be excited about in Oil Country where a new season is set to begin and McDavid is invested to help get the Oilers back into the Stanley Cup Final and, this time, win it all.
