EDMONTON -- Some people love a change of scenery.

The Edmonton Oilers have brought back most of their lineup from last season. They have made a few minor changes to the makeup of the roster.
Vincent Desharnais, Ryan McLeod, Warren Foegele, Sam Carrick, Cody Ceci, Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway and Xavier Bourgault have become members of new organizations. Viktor Arvidsson, Jeff Skinner, Ty Emberson, Matthew Savoie and Vasily Podkolzin are the major additions the Oilers have made to their team.
One former Oilers forward who is still unsigned might be getting an opportunity to win a roster spot for an Eastern Conference team.
Kailer Yamamoto is poised to sign a professional try-out with the Boston Bruins. He along with Blake Wheeler are reportedly both of interest to the Bruins.
This past season was tough for the 5-foot-8 Yamamoto. The 22nd overall selection from the 2017 entry draft struggled with the Seattle Kraken last season. In 59 games he collected 16 points while averaging 11:59 of ice time per game.
Yamamoto is only two years removed from his career best season with the Oilers. In the 2021-22 season he produced 41 points in 81 games. He spent most of that season in the top six. Connor McDavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Leon Draisaitl and Evander Kane were his most common linemates.

Time will tell if he can earn a spot on the Bruins roster. This will certainly be an interesting storyline to monitor once their training camp opens up.
