EDMONTON -- Second chances can be a good thing.

In the case of former Edmonton Oilers' Zack Kassian, it certainly was. After a series of poor life choices he rebuilt his reputation (and career) while with the Oilers.

Not everyone deserves a second chance in the NHL. Many have argued that Stan Bowman shouldn't have been given a second chance with the Oilers. Or at least they wish more time had passed for him to build his reputation back.

There is one former Oilers tough guy who is looking to return to the big leagues.

Frank Seravalli has reported that Milan Lucic is looking to continue his hockey career. According to the Daily Faceoff reporter, he has been training in New Jersey.

Given the nature of his exit, he would need to be cleared in order to return. Last November he took an indefinite leave of absence one day after a "domestic incident" with his wife, Brittany.

The trial did not result in a conviction after Brittany declined to testify and the key evidence used for her case was thrown out by the judge. In April, Brittany had filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences."

Milan hasn't played an NHL game since October 21st. In that game he had suffered an injury that kept him out of the lineup until the incident with Brittany. He had recorded two assists in four games while playing 11:58 a night.

Milan spent three seasons with the Oilers, from the 2016-17 season up until 2018-19. Each year his production steadily declined until he produced 20 points in 79 games his last season with the team.

The towering forward is certainly on the last legs of his career. And if he does not get reinstated, he may be forced to retire. It's also worthwhile to note that he is currently in the NHLPA Player Assistance program.

Given the length of his career and what has happened in his personal life over the last calendar year, it wouldn't be a bad thing to hang up the skates.
