Players have left the Edmonton Oilers for a variety of different reasons. For some, the organization decided for them (Kailer Yamamoto) for others, they decided to move on (Adam Larsson).

Sometimes they are dealt to bring in a more experienced player. That was what happened in the case of Caleb Jones.

On July 21st of 2021, Jones was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for Duncan Keith. Keith became part of an important playoff run. He also poured his wisdom out on the likes of Evan Bouchard, furthering his development into the defenseman that he is today.

Jones would play for the Blackhawks for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. He played 51 and 73 games respectively. He averaged 16:43 his first season and 19:12 his second stint. Jones collected 15 points his first season there and 16 in his second.

Last year he played 25 games with the Colorado Avalanche. He recorded five points and averaged 12:12 of ice time per game. Jones was also a member of the Carolina Hurricanes, but he played no games in the NHL for them.

Now he's headed for the Los Angeles Kings to join Warren Foegele.

According to the Kings press release, Jones signed a one-year two way contract. The deal is worth $775,000. He is now the eighth defenseman signed to a contract for the Kings. The Kings also have Jordan Pence to sign, who is an RFA.
