A former Edmonton Oilers forward is inching closer to his return to the lineup.
Former Edmonton Oilers forward Klim Kostin has not played for the Detroit Red Wings since Dec. 18 against the Anaheim Ducks. However, it appears that this will be changing in the near future.
Kostin was seen skating today in a regular practice jersey rather than a non-contact one. As a result, it is safe that he is inching closer to his return.
Kostin, 24, was traded by the Oilers after a breakout season to the Red Wings during the offseason. In 57 games with the Oilers in 2022-23, he set career-highs in goals (11), assists (10), and points (21).

Things have not gone too well for him with the Red Wings thus far, however. In 23 games on the season, he has just two goals and an assist. It has been a tough campaign for him offensively, but he will soon have the chance to heat back up now that he is nearing his return.
Once Kostin is good to go, he will fight for his spot back in the Red Wings' bottom six.
