The Edmonton Oilers only have two pre-season games left before the games start to count for real. However, they did not suit up last night.
Around the NHL, a few familiar faces played last night. Taylor Hall, Pat Maroon, and Andreas Athanasiou skated for the Chicago Blackhawks. Unfortunately, they found themselves on the wrong end of a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Minnesota Wild.
Another game featured a few former Oilers going head-to-head. The Utah Hockey Club defeated the San Jose Sharks by a 3-1 score. Former Oilers defenseman Matt Benning recorded the lone goal for the Sharks.
The bigger story of that game was Kailer Yamamoto's play. He is currently on a PTO with the team in Utah.

Last night, Yamamoto put up a two-goal night. He scored Utah's second and third goals, earning himself the second star of the night.
Yamamoto skated on a line with Barrett Hayton and Clayton Keller, who assisted on his two goals. He finished the game with 17 minutes of ice time.
Yamamoto is doing his best to show why he deserves an NHL contract. Given his age and potential, there should be no reason why Utah wouldn't offer him a deal before their first regular season game.
The 26-year-old forward spent last season with the Seattle Kraken. In 59 games, he mustered 16 points while averaging 11:59 of time on ice per game.

Utah only has two more pre-season games left before it kicks off its year against Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks. They are back in action tonight against the Anaheim Ducks.
