It was a big night for the former Edmonton Oilers forward.

EDMONTON -- Some people have the magic.

It could be singing, dancing, acting, creating films, writing, playing sports, or, in the case of hockey, scoring goals.

One former Edmonton Oilers forward had his back against the wall and responded with a big game. Taylor Hall propelled the Chicago Blackhawks to a 6-2 victory over the Dallas Stars.

All thanks to Hall.

The winger scored the team's first, second, and fifth goals of the game. Hall scored his hat trick on only three shots and finished the game with a +3. He finished the game with 14:19 of ice time.

Last night, he was on the top line with Connor Bedard and Philipp Kurashev.

The 33-year-old has nine points in 21 games this season. The seven-time 20-goal scorer is on a 35-point pace for this season, scoring at a 0.24 goals-per-game rate. Over an 82-game schedule, that would work out to 20 goals.

This hat trick came a whole decade after his last one. December 5th, 2013, was the last time Hall scored three goals in a game. The Oilers defeated the Colorado Avalanche 8-2 that night, backstopped by Devan Dubnyk. Hall played 20:12 that night.

Oilers legend Ryan Smyth also had a big game that night, recording three assists. He assisted Ales Hemsky, Marc Arcobello, and Jordan Eberle with their goals.

With the Blackhawks in the NHL's basement in the standings, it's only a matter of time before they start selling off their veterans (like Hall).
