The Hockey News Edmonton Oilers correspondent asked Kris Knoblauch about his newest accomplishment.
The Edmonton Oilers extended their current winning streak to seven games. With their seventh win in a row (20th of the season) they slide into the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

This is in no small part due to some tweaks that Kris Knoblauch and Paul Coffey have implemented. The defensemen are focused on making plays. Everyone is working hard to eliminate high risk plays.
This isn't the first time they've gone on an extended stretch this season - the first time was to the tune of eight straight wins. That streak started on November 24 and continued up until December 12.

To this day, that eight-game streak is the longest winning streak in the NHL this season. The Oilers are one win away from tying this streak record against the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow night.
Aside from what the team has accomplished, Knoblauch has achieved something quite unique as well. He is the first coach in NHL history to ever have two seven-game win streaks in their first 25 games as a head coach.
I had the pleasure of asking Knoblauch how it felt to be the first coach to achieve that - his response was humorously candid.
"It's new to me."
He immediately begins differing credit to the team and away from himself, "I'm happy the team's winning and playing well. It was only a matter of time before they started winning hockey games, no matter what message I sent."
"Hopefully we've got many more seven game winning streaks."

The team's success goes hand-in-hand with the head coach's - or at least that's what Knoblauch indirectly says here.
