Rogers Arena is buzzing early in the first period of this Edmonton Oilers - Vancouver Canucks opening game. Both teams are exchanging chances, but both goals scored thus far have been from the Oilers.
The Oilers went up on the power play less than two minutes into the game - with Zach Hyman potting the first goal of the series. The second goal was scored by Mattias Ekholm nearly 13 minutes later.

It's also been an intensely physical affair - 16 hits for the Oilers and 12 for the Canucks.
At least two of the hits for the Oilers have come against the Canucks star defenseman - Quinn Hughes. Two of them came within a couple minutes of each other.
The first hit was Evander Kane crushing the blue liner into the boards. The second time, it was Hyman who pulverized the young defender who went flying into the boards.

The Canucks defenders aren't making it easy on Connor McDavid - and the Oilers are returning the favor on the Canucks star defender. These teams are playing exciting, physical hockey - and this is an absolute treat for hockey fans everywhere.
