The Edmonton Oilers move Evan Bouchard to a new pairing.

Brett Kulak had the worst expected goals against per 60, yet many say he was the best Edmonton Oilers defenseman on any given night. What gives?

The Edmonton Oilers will be pushing for their second win of the regular season tonight. One of the biggest stories for the team this year is the absurd amount of goals scored against them.

The Oilers have had 10 out of 27 goals scored against them in the third period this season. Conversely, the Oilers have only scored one third period goal (out of 17).

In an effort to achieve better defensive results, Evan Bouchard has been moved down the depth chart. Bouchard was seen skating with Brett Kulak.

A new pairing of Mattias Ekholm and Philip Broberg was spotted. This was believed to be the plan from the beginning of the off-season. That plan went off the rails once Ekholm sustained an injury that kept him out of the lineup for every Oilers exhibition game.

Ekholm and Broberg played 3:23 together at even strength in the 7-4 loss to the Minnesota Wild. This will be the pairing to watch tonight.

The forward lines remain the same as last game. Stuart Skinner is projected to start the game in net.
