The Edmonton Oilers have activated both defenseman Jake Walman and goaltender Tristan Jarry from IR on Tuesday. Both could play as the Oilers take on the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.
In corresponding moves, the Oilers have placed veteran forward Adam Henrique on LTIR and moved goaltender Connor Ingram from emergency recall to regular recall status.
As the Oilers activate Walman and Jarry and put Henrique on LTIR, the good news is that the team does not have to send anyone down. Due to new LTIR rules, and as Sports 1440's Jason Gregor points out, "Jarry is currently only a $3.82m while on LTIR. EDM would have about $270K in cap space and can carry 13-7-3 if they choose."
As for how the Oilers will address their overall goaltending situation, that remains to be seen. If they believe Ingram is ready to stick it out in the NHL and Jarry is back, the writing might be on the wall for Calvin Pickard.
