EDMONTON – Everybody loves a winner.

Even though the Edmonton Oilers haven’t won a Stanley Cup in a good number of years, they’ve gone deeper into the playoffs than 30 teams for the previous two seasons.

Those 30 teams want those winners on their team to propel their organizations to the same success. More often than not, that increase in responsibility is warranted.

A new member of the Oilers coaching staff is moving on to a new team. David Pelletier is following Glen Gulutzan to the Dallas Stars. Gulutzan’s staff already includes Jeff Reese, Neil Graham, Alain Nasreddine, Patrick Dolan, and Chris Demczuk.

According to a team press release, Pelletier will join the team as an assistant coach. He will provide insights to the other coaching staff and players from his vantage point as the “eye in the sky.”

Pelletier has spent the last 11 years with the Oilers. He served the team as the skating coach at all levels of the organization.

There is still no fresh news on the status of the other assistant coaches that the Oilers employed this past season. Now that the rush that comes with the beginning of free agency has died down, Stan Bowman and Kris Knoblauch are focusing on filling out the rest of the coaching staff.

Everybody loves a winner, which should make the Oilers a desirable destination for any hockey coach.
