Reinforcements have arrived in Edmonton as three key players return to the ice, shaking up the lines for a Saturday rematch with the Utah Mammoth.
It looks like the Edmonton Oilers might finally be getting some reinforcements back into their lineup. Based on the line combinations at Saturday's morning skate, both Zach Hyman and Colton Dach look like they'll be playing the rematch against the Utah Mammoth.
Bob Stauffer tweeted out the morning's lineups and the top line remained the same -- Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Vasily Podkolzin. The second line looked much different.
It was Kasperi Kapanen with Dach and Hyman, which pushed others down where they should be. The third line was Alex Formenton, Owen Michaels and Mathieu Joseph, with Filip Hallander, Trent Frederic, and Isaac Howard on line four.
Josh Samanski and Max Jones were the extras.
On defense, Jake Walman was back on the ice, skating on the third pairing with Ty Emberson. Shakir Mukhamadullin was the seventh d-man.
None of this guarantees that this is the lineup the Oilers will roll with Saturday night, but it appears at least three players are coming back into the lineup.
This is a huge relief for Babcock, who said after Thursday's loss that he can't keep pushing his top guys as hard as he has been. “I look at it every night and go, ‘What the heck am I doing?’” He added, “I’m also trying to survive right now."
Tristan Jarry will get the start in goal. He's coming off a win and looking to keep up his solid play, giving the Oilers and his coach the confidence to keep using him.
Both Jarry and Levi have been good after rough starts to the season.
