With the Edmonton Oilers playing the Boston Bruins tonight, they have decided to not change their defense pairings.
EDMONTON -- There are two games between now and the trade deadline for the Edmonton Oilers. The first one is tonight against the Boston Bruins.
Last time these two teams played against each other it was a wild affair - 11 goals were scored in a game that needed an extra frame to be decided.

When asked by Bob Stauffer what he thought of the new defense pairings after today's morning skate, Kris Knoblauch had this to say, "I thought they were outstanding, I liked all the pairs. A couple guys elevated their game and played well."
Judging from how the practice lines rolled out, it looks like the new pairings will get another crack at the can tonight.
After one game together, the ice time was spread out fairly evenly throughout all of the pairings:

This could be a recipe for success for the Oilers - both in the long term and short term. In the short term it is allowing everyone to play the right amount of ice time per game. In the long run, it will allow everyone to be less worn out by the time playoffs roll around.
That's provided that nothing else changes with the teams.
