The last two games for the Edmonton Oilers didn't have any impact on the playoffs. While they lost to both the Arizona Coyotes and the Colorado Avalanche, it was two other games that decided the fate of the Oilers first round opponent.
The Vegas Golden Knights were playing the Anaheim Ducks. After two periods of play the game was tied 1-1, but then the Ducks exploded for three goals in the third period to win 4-1.

That's when things got more interesting. If the Los Angeles Kings lost their game, nothing in the standings would change and the Oilers would have played against the Golden Knights.
The Kings went into the third period of their game up 3-1 on the Chicago Blackhawks. Their opponent stormed back to tie the game - and then gain a 4-3 lead. At 18:39 of the third period Viktor Arvidsson would tie the game at 4-4.

Adrian Kempe would only need six seconds in the extra frame to secure a first round series against the Oilers.
With the regular season fully complete, the focus now turns to the playoffs. The Oilers now know who they will play - but also when they will play.

Here is the schedule for the Oilers vs Kings first round series:
