The 34-40-5 Coyotes have three games left of the regular season - two of which are against the Oilers. Conversely, the 48-24-5 Oilers have five games left of their year.
This will be the second of three total matchups between the two clubs this season. The first meeting resulted in a 6-3 win at Mullet Arena on February 19th.
At practice today Connor McDavid was asked about the defensive play of the Oilers recently, "we want to be a tight checking team, we want to play that simple game. The biggest thing with our group is just awareness, being focused for the full (60 minutes), all the cliches."
"But that's what defending is - it's awareness, it's focus, it's being dialed in, and our group was that for the full game the other night."
Defense has been such a point of focus for the team - that it's the number one thing discussed by the players, "everybody talks about playing defense, but in our room it's all we really talk about."
For a team that has struggled defensively for countless years - is a huge breath of fresh air to hear about where the team is choosing to put their focus.
