EDMONTON -- It is finished.

The Edmonton Oilers have defeated the Los Angeles Kings in five games. They won another tight game, with the final score being 4-3 in the Oilers favor. They will advance to the next round - where they await the winner of the Vancouver Canucks - Nashville Predators series.
The power play was incredible against the Kings. They registered nine goals on 20 power play opportunities - finishing the first round series with a 45% conversion rate with the man advantage. That's the best power play in the playoffs.
The more impressive special teams stat for this team comes from the penalty kill.
They went 12-for-12 on the penalty kill. There are people who say that teams live and die by special teams in the playoffs - and right now both special teams are humming for the Oilers.
As the tweet above says - the Oilers have never been perfect on the penalty kill in any series in the team's history. This is a big deal.
To have the top ranked power play AND penalty kill after the first round of the playoffs is mind boggling. But the maturity of this team right now should come as no surprise to anyone who's been watching closely over the course of the regular season.
