Edmonton Oilers could have benefitted greatly from having this player on their roster.

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers look to put a death grip on their series with the Los Angeles Kings tonight in Game four.

The Oilers know that the Kings will come out all-guns blazing - and will look to counter with a strong first period. There is plenty of time to catch up on other series' in the league before tuning in to the Oilers game tonight.

One game of interest to the Oilers pertains to their Pacific Division rivals (and playoff nemesis) the Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights battled back from a two goal deficit to tie the game at two going into the third period.

The third period solved nothing - which led to 16:23 of overtime until this beauty of a goal was scored.

That kind of skill in a young player would come in handy with the Oilers right now. Yes, they have Ryan McLeod and Dylan Holloway - both have yet to establish themselves as an offensive force. McLeod has great defensive metrics and Holloway seems to just be finding his stride.

Wyatt Johnston is a 20-year-old center who had 65 points in 82 games this past season. So far this post season he has three points in three games - two of which came in last night's game.

The thing that really stings for Oilers fans - is the fact that he could have been drafted by the Oilers. In fact, the Oilers picked a different player one selection before Johnston.

Xavier Bourgault was selected 22nd overall in the 2021 NHL entry draft, while Johnston was selected 23rd. Bourgault has yet to play an NHL game - while Johnston has 164 NHL regular season games to go along with 22 playoff games worth of experience.

This player will be one to watch over the next coming weeks - as the Oilers could potentially face the Stars in a Western Conference Final series.
