The Edmonton Oilers kick off their pre-season schedule tonight against the Winnipeg Jets.

EDMONTON -- Pre-season is officially here.

The Edmonton Oilers will play the Winnipeg Jets for their first pre-season game tonight. The last time the Oilers played hockey was when they lost Game seven of the Stanley Cup Final by a 2-1 score on June 24th.

Since then, the team has been resting and relaxing. Armed with new players and prospects, they are ready to take on another season.

The pre-season is a great opportunity for some players to prove their worth. These players may not have been the coach's first option, but work their way onto the roster.

The Oilers play eight pre-season games:

  • September 22: 4:00 PM vs Winnipeg Jets (Home Game)
  • September 23: 7:00 PM vs Calgary Flames (Away Game/Split Squad)
  • September 23: 7:00 PM vs Calgary Flames (Home Game/Split Squad)
  • September 25: 6:00 PM vs Winnipeg Jets (Away Game)
  • September 28: 7:00 PM vs Seattle Kraken (Home Game)
  • September 30: 7:00 PM vs Vancouver Canucks (Home Game)
  • October 2: 8:00 PM vs Seattle Kraken (Away Game)
  • October 4: 8:00 PM vs Vancouver Canucks (Away Game)

Unfortunately for Oilers fans, not every pre-season game is televised. Only three games will be shown on TV:

  • September 25: TSN 3 (vs Jets)
  • September 30: Sportsnet (vs Canucks)
  • October 4: Sportsnet (vs Canucks)

Most pre-season games are available on the Oilers streaming service, Oilers+. Only the two games shown on Sportsnet will not be viewable from Oilers+. Fans can subscribe to Oilers+ on an annual or monthly basis.
