Everyone loves game day, and the anticipation leading up to Game 1 has gone on for a long time.
The Oilers had an optional skate on Wednesday morning. Head coach Kris Knoblauch spoke with the media afterward. In his availability, he said that Connor Brown would take warmups and would be a “game-time decision.”

Judging by who was out on the ice late, it looks like the team is expecting Brown to start. Jeff Skinner was out with the rest of the players who are typically scratches.
It’s a massive boost for the Oilers if this comes to fruition and Brown plays. His utility on the penalty kill and penchant for clutch goals this postseason are just a few of the elements he can bring to the lineup when he is healthy.
In Brown’s availability, he told The Hockey News that yesterday was a “maintenance day” and that he “feels good.”
Of course, Skinner gets the short end of the stick if Brown returns to action. That reality is disappointing for a player who has delivered when called upon (two points in two games).

Starting this series at home should give the Oilers a considerable boost. It will be the first time this postseason that they have done so.
Tonight’s game will be broadcast at 6:00 PM on TNT, MAX, CBC, TVAS, truTV, and Sportsnet. Puck drop will be at 6:30 PM.
Time to see how the beginning of the end…begins.
