Evander Kane Mixing It Up With Some Los Angeles Kings Players (Yannick Peterhans-Imagn Images)

EDMONTON – Wouldn’t you look at that.

Some fresh faces will look to make their playoff debut on Wednesday night.

The Edmonton Oilers are poised to add a few players to their lineup, and subtract a few surprising names. After suffering a disappointing 6-5 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, the Oilers will do what they can to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

    New Oilers Forward Lines

    Draisaitl - McDavid - Perry

The trio of Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid, and Corey Perry will be reunited. This makes sense, considering it was this trio driving the bus in the third period of Game 1.

    Kane - RNH - Hyman

Perhaps the biggest reveal from Wednesday’s morning skate, was the inclusion of Evander Kane on the second line. He will play his first game since the Stanley Cup Final last year alongside Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman.

    Frederic - Henrique - Brown

The line of Trent Frederic, Adam Henrique, and Connor Brown will be an interesting one to watch. Look for this line to bring their speed, skill, and tenacity to the forefront.

    Podkolzin - Janmark - Arvidsson

All things considered, the line of Vasily Podkolzin, Mattias Janmark, and Viktor Arvidsson have the makings of an excellent fourth line in the playoffs. Each player is a beast on the forecheck. They all play with a physical edge that can make them a pest for the opposition to face.

    Scratches: Skinner, Jones, Ryan, Kapanen

The saddest part of the Kane addition is that Jeff Skinner is coming out of the lineup. Monday night’s game was his first career playoff game, so this is a hard pill for him to swallow.

    New Oilers Defense Pairings

    Nurse - Bouchard

Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard were paired together a lot during Monday night’s loss. Luckily, the Oilers are turning to this pairing again to shoulder the load for Game 2.

    Walman - Klingberg

Jake Walman and John Klingberg will be the team’s second pairing. This will be Klingberg’s playoff debut with the Oilers. Klingberg with Walman is the logical place to insert him into the lineup. If he struggles early, he can be swapped onto the third pairing and the team would do just fine.

    Kulak - Emberson

Brett Kulak and Ty Emberson have been a solid third pairing for the Oilers. Both defenders operate on the powerplay and have spent the majority of their seasons together.

    Scratches: Dineen, Brown

Josh Brown should have been scratched in Game 1. However, hindsight is a beautiful thing. I’d also be willing to bet that nobody expected Brown to play less than five minutes, so there’s that.

Wednesday night’s game is shaping up to be an exciting one for Oil Country.
