The Edmonton Oilers goaltender struggled early in the season, but recently has found a groove.

Edmonton Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner cannot be relied on for 70+ starts this year. The last goalie to do that for the Oilers - or any other team - was 2016-17 Cam Talbot.

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers will look to improve upon their 24-15-1 record as they face the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken are knocking on the door of the playoffs, but have fallen behind because of a two game losing skid.

One of the biggest talking points this season has been the goaltending. At the beginning of the season both Stuart Skinner and Jack Campbell were struggling. That was also a symptom of a struggling team as nothing seemed to be going right - until Kris Knoblauch and Paul Coffey entered the picture.

Since Knoblauch took over the team is 21-6-0. They have gone from one of the bottom teams in the league to being seventh overall in the Western Conference. A huge contributor to that rebound has been goaltending.

Skinner is proving himself to be an NHL starting goalie. He has played 21 of the 27 games that Knoblauch has coached - with a 17-4-0 record in those games.

Campbell too is experiencing a rebound. Before last night's Bakersfield Condors game Campbell was 6-3 over his last nine starts - with a .918 save percentage (SV%) and a 2.68 goals against average (GAA).

Last night the Condors defeated the Colorado Eagles 4-2. Campbell stopped 32 of 34 shots - which is a 2.00 GAA and a .940 SV%.

Regardless of whether or not Campbell is in the plans for the Oilers, it's refreshing to see him find his game in the AHL.
