The Edmonton Oilers enter the holidays on an impressive run. They finished their pre-Christmas run with an 8-2-0 record in their last 10 games, riding a three-game win streak punctuated by a 3-1 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Now, they have solidified a part of their future with a new signing. PuckPedia has reported that Connor Clattenburg has signed an entry-level deal with the Oilers.

According to the Salary Cap Website's social account, the deal will be a three-year contract worth $855,000 per season. His pay structure includes a $775,000 base with a $80,000 signing bonus yearly. Dan Milstein of the Gold Star Sports Management Group represents Clattenburg.

The rugged forward plays for the Flint Firebirds of the OHL. He has 18 points in 22 games. He is the team captain and an integral part of their success.

He is in his second season with the team. Last year, he recorded 29 points in 60 games split between the Firebirds and Soon Greyhounds.

The 6-foot-4 forward was drafted by the Oilers this past summer. He was a 5th-round pick, selected 160th overall.

Clattenburg plays a tough, physical game that he combines with soft hands. Thus, he fits the mold of a power forward.

Time will tell if these tidings bring Oilers fans great joy.
