Who Would Help the Oilers More, Erik Karlsson or Brett Pesce?
The two defenders rumored to be on the trade block could help the Oilers out in different ways.
We are in the thick of the off-season, with breaking news coming out at a snails pace. The Edmonton Oilers are plugging away behind the scenes on contract extensions for both Evan Bouchard and Ryan McLeod.
The real juice of this off-season however is addressing the Oilers blue line. We know they need a little extra boost to cross over from playoff team to Stanley Cup Final team. One of either Brett Pesce or Erik Karlsson could provide the kind of boost the team needs. Check out the video below where I break down the differences between the two defenders:
Pesce and Karlsson are great defenders. They aren't the only options available for the Oilers to consider. Given the state of their rivals to the south, the Calgary Flames blue line could offer another option to get the Oilers over the hump.
When taking to Twitter, it's clear who the fans want to see the Oilers add to their team. To be honest, I was expecting the votes to be closer together for Pesce and Karlsson. Christopher Tanev of the Flames would be a dark horse candidate for the Oilers to acquire. Any of these three players would be a huge addition to the team. The question the Oilers need to ask is do they want more scoring for or less scoring against?
