He pointed to a team-wide mentality that has leaned too far toward offense at the expense of structure. This is where someone like Murphy can help. Edmonton has scored in bunches but has also left its goaltenders exposed. That's not Murphy's game. He doesn't provide much offense, but plays a smarter, simpler brand of hockey. The Murphy trade represents phase one of Edmonton’s deadline plan. Phase two seems to be targeting a center. There is a lot of chatter that Nicolas Roy, out of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, is on Bowman's radar.
