Auston Matthews finds a new spark with Gavin McKenna, while the Kraken stun Toronto and Colorado’s superstars rediscover their scoring touch in a high-stakes night for fantasy managers.

Wednesday's NHL schedule was a compact four-game slate, but it still delivered plenty of exciting action and marquee moments from the league's stars, making for a thrilling night overall.

The Seattle Kraken continued their hot start with a 5-4 underdog win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in a back-and-forth contest, getting big nights from several players.

The Colorado Avalanche and Washington Capitals each bounced back with 5-2 victories, and the Edmonton Oilers shut out the Calgary Flames 4-0 in a dominant Battle of Alberta win. Here are the biggest fantasy hockey highs and lows from Wednesday.

Toronto's New Top-Line Duo?

Auston Matthews and Gavin McKenna each finished with three points, with McKenna scoring two goals and adding an assist, and Matthews recording a goal and two assists. It was one of the first games the pair played together on the same line, and they looked good.

McKenna could get a boost in the short term from playing alongside Matthews, though playing-time concerns remain after his recent benchings. Matthews has been perfect this season, with 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points in just 15 games. McKenna, the recent first overall pick, has also done well, sitting at five goals and six assists for 11 points through 15 games.

It was a rough night for Sergei Bobrovsky, who finished with just 12 saves on 17 shots and allowed five goals, continuing a difficult start to his season.

Seattle Proving Not to Be Pretenders

The Kraken earned a hard-fought win, responding every time the Maple Leafs scored to secure a massive victory and improve to 8-4-1 on the season. No single player stood out, as it was a group effort. Chandler Stephenson, Mackie Samoskevich and Matty Beniers each came away with two points, while Brandon Montour, Vince Dunn and Berkly Catton were among the many to find the scoresheet with a point.

Capitals, Avalanche Bounce Back on Offense

Dylan Strome led the way for Washington with three assists, while newcomers Jordan Kyrou and Alex Tuch each netted a pair of goals. The Capitals kept the Flyers from getting going, with Porter Martone and Trevor Zegras continuing their slow starts.

The slow-starting Avalanche bounced back as well, with Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon and Nazem Kadri all finding the back of the net. Several players finished with two points, including defensemen Brent Burns and Sam Malinski, who each had two assists. Colorado also kept the Devils' stars quiet, with Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt each going without a point.
