On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy hockey managers to stream, roster or utilize in standard leagues and/or DFS games. Players and goalies highlighted for streaming in standard leagues are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson, D, TOR at FLA (55% rostered)
OEL is still available in most leagues despite having a renaissance season and in the midst of a nine-game points streak. The Leafs have been toying with a five-forward PP1 unit so there isn’t a lot of PP upside, but OEL has been their most productive defenseman by a wide margin. The consistent even-strength production is a sign OEL’s scoring has been no fluke.
Darren Raddysh, D, TB at NYI (46% rostered)
Charle-Edouard D’Astous, D, TB at NYI (0% rostered)
Be sure to check game-day news for this one. Raddysh missed Monday’s skate for personal reasons and his status is questionable against the Isles. If he plays, he’s an excellent streaming option with seven points in his past three games filling in for Victor Hedman on PP1.
If Raddysh is unavailable, the logical choice is to promote D’Astous to the top unit, or otherwise run five forwards. D’Astous has a little offense in him – eight points in 18 games, and a proven offensive defenseman in the Swedish and Finnish leagues – and he could be a sneaky play.
Scott Morrow, D, NYR vs. DAL (0% rostered)
The Rangers play on going with five forwards on PP1 but we shall see how long that lasts. Should they need a defenseman, look for Morrow to get the promotion from PP2. Morrow has offensive skill but has been inconsistent and struggles to stay in the lineup. Without the coach’s trust, Morrow’s ice time is capped, but the Rangers are also stuck without a good puck-moving defenseman without Adam Fox. The gamble here is the Rangers end up having to turn to Morrow because they have little choice.
