Grab these defensemen now! Travis Sanheim and Sean Durzi are getting power play opportunities, offering fantasy managers a significant edge on the waiver wire.
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy hockey managers to stream, roster or utilize in standard leagues and/or DFS games. Players and goalies highlighted for streaming in standard leagues are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Travis Sanheim, D, PHI vs. BUF (25% rostered) – FanDuel $4,800
It’s a little hard to figure out the Flyers power play at times though note Sanheim led all Flyers defensemen in PP TOI with 5:23, more than both Cam York (3:01) and Emil Andrae (2:11). Sanheim is still the Flyers’ best defenseman, and even if he doesn’t score points remains a pretty consistent shot blocker.
Sean Durzi, D, UTA at ANA (10% rostered) – FanDuel $3,900
Hard to believe, but the Mammoth have the league’s worst power play. They’re trying different things to spark some offense, including playing Durzi on PP1 at times. That didn’t work out well with Durzi finishing with a minus-3 rating in a 6-3 loss to the Sharks and trailed Mikhail Sergachev and Nate Schmidt in total PP TOI. Still, if there’s an opportunity for Durzi to play PP1, it gives him at least some streaming value.
