Brandt Clarke, LA at NYI (69% rostered) – FanDuel $5,600
The upside with Clarke is that he blocks quite a few shots if he’s not scoring points. The Kings offense features two dangerous wingers in Artemi Panarin and Adrian Kempe, but that’s about it. Throw in a matchup against Ilya Sorokin and it’s really tough. But on a light slate, there are few young defensemen who have as much upside as Clarke, who quarterbacks the power play with Panarin and Kempe.
Philip Broberg, STL vs. EDM (11% rostered) – FanDuel $4,900
Broberg had one of his dreaded ‘cardio games’ – it happens – where he skated over 23 minutes but failed to register a point, snapping his four-game points streak. He can certainly be a boom-or-bust pick but he’s the best bet among Blues defenseman to score points with Justin Faulk now in Detroit. The Oilers have been a mess defensively this season, and they’re coming off a game where they allowed seven goals.
