Discover waiver wire gems! Uncover Carter Yakemchuk's sudden impact and other defensemen poised for breakout performances tonight.

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy hockey managers to stream, roster or utilize in standard leagues and/or DFS games. Players and goalies highlighted for streaming in standard leagues are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.

Philip Broberg, STL vs. SJ (7% rostered) – FanDuel $4,400

Broberg’s notched an assist in consecutive games and could easily go for his third in a favorable matchup against the Sharks. They’ve lost five straight with 27 goals allowed, and may be forced to start backup Alex Nedeljkovic again if Yaroslav Askarov isn’t ready.

Carter Yakemchuk, OTT vs. PIT (3% rostered) – FanDuel $5,000

Yakemchuk played very sheltered minutes (12:46) in his debut but outshined Jordan Spence with a goal and an assist. Called up to replace the injured Thomas Chabot, and already without Jake Sanderson, Yakemchuk has shared PP duties with Spence, but it’s clear who has more upside. Look for Yakemchuk to play sheltered minutes again, but his season debut was very encouraging and could be a very sneaky value play against a team that’s been having trouble keeping pucks out of their net.

Charle-Edouard D’Astous, TB vs. SEA (1% rostered) – FanDuel $3,800

Victor Hedman has taken a leave of absence which opens up minutes for D’Astous. His ice time can yo-yo depending on game flow and his consistency, but note he’s played at least 18 minutes in all but one game since March 8. He notched an assist last game against the Wild and has some offensive pop, ranking second in PP TOI among Lightning defensemen behind Darren Raddysh.
