Boost your fantasy defense! K'Andre Miller sparks the Hurricanes' power play. Discover Dmitry Orlov, Brent Burns, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson for waiver wire gems.
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues and/or for daily fantasy games.
Dmitry Orlov, D, SJ at MIN (48% rostered) – FanDuel $5,300
Orlov has been taken off PP1 but continues to produce, registering an assist against the Panthers on Saturday. The Wild should be a much easier opponent to score on, though their goaltending has vastly improved. At the very minimum, Orlov should have plenty of opportunities to block shots.
Brent Burns, D, COL vs. ANA (38% rostered) – FanDuel $5,400
Burns has an assist in two straight games and this matchup should feature plenty of goals with so much firepower on each side. This is the No. 1 ranked offense against the No. 2 ranked offense, and Burns still provides plenty of shot volume.
K’Andre Miller, D, CAR vs. WSH (33% rostered) – FanDuel $6,200
Miller has replaced Sean Walker on PP1 and, truthfully, he’s a better fit. Miller has four assists in his past three games with eight shots and three blocks. The Caps will be tough to beat, but as long as the Canes get on the power play, they have a pretty good chance to score. The Caps have the sixth-worst PK in the league.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson, D, TOR at BOS (27% rostered) – FanDuel $5,000
Ekman-Larsson played just 17:12 after missing a few shifts due to a blocked shot. His status for this game is not in question, which means Ekman-Larsson will resume duties on PP1. The Bruins have the 11th-ranked PK in the league but have allowed the 10th-most goals per game.
