Quinn Hughes, D, VAN at WSH (100% rostered) – FanDuel $6,600
Hughes has the highest salary among available defensemen and he should be well worth it. The past four matchups between the two teams have been really close, low-scoring games, but the one constant has been Hughes’ contributions. The Canucks captain will be on the ice in nearly all offensive situations and he’s had sustained success against the Caps, scoring 14 points in 10 games. It’s a fairly light schedule so leaning into the best players in DFS play is an okay strategy.
Jackson LaCombe, D, ANA at CHI (64% rostered) – FanDuel $5,500
The points will come sooner than later. LaCombe remains the Ducks’ top defenseman and has not relinquished his role as PP1 QB. Given his ice time, LaCombe has a pretty high floor, and offers some potential for blocked shots. This could be a high-scoring game between two teams with questionable defenses and plenty of scoring talent.
Sam Rinzel, D, CHI vs. ANA (37% rostered) – FanDuel $5,400
The Hawks have been playing seven defensemen lately so ice time has been a little harder to come by for Rinzel, but he remains their top option for offense. He notched an assist against the Canucks on Friday and gets a modest amount of blocks, hits and shots per game. I can see this game really open up, which will benefit Rinzel's fantasy value.
