On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues and/or for daily fantasy games.
Quinn Hughes, D, VAN vs. EDM (100% rostered) – FanDuel $6,000
It has not been a great start for Hughes but his two-assist effort Saturday against the Habs might spark something. Brock Boeser returned to the lineup and Elias Pettersson had arguably his best game of the season. The Canucks will surely rise to the challenge against a division rival that’s also playing the second game of a back-to-back though they had the additional challenge of travelling cross-border last night from Seattle. I think this is potentially great value in DFS play for an elite defenseman.
Zeev Buium, D, MIN vs. SJ (75% rostered) – FanDuel $5,900
Buium is quietly putting together a very good rookie campaign and notched an assist for the second straight game. It’s encouraging that he can score at even strength and gets 20 minutes consistently despite his inconsistent defensive play. The Sharks can be very porous defensively, which is perfectly suited for Buium’s vision and skating to take over and generate scoring chances in a bid to extend his points streak.
Dmitry Orlov, D, SJ at MIN (34% rostered) – FanDuel $5,300
The Wild PK is bottom five, which gives Orlov a great opportunity to pick up some points as the Sharks’ newest PP1 QB. As I noted before previously, I suspect this role will be a revolving door all season given that no one has really stepped up. Orlov draws the lucky straw in this matchup and has been surprisingly productive with seven points in eight games considering he averages about 30 points a season.
