Flyers rookie Porter Martone ignites offensive upside with surging shot volume. Discover other top waiver wire targets to boost your fantasy team.
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy hockey managers to stream, roster or utilize in standard leagues and/or DFS games. Players and goalies highlighted for streaming in standard leagues are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Troy Terry, RW, ANA vs. STL (45% rostered) – FanDuel $6,700
Critically under-rostered in most leagues despite being a point-per-game player, Terry’s likely your best bet on the waiver wire for points. He’s scored a point in each of his past two games and remains locked in on the Ducks’ top line with Leo Carlsson and on the power play.
Jimmy Snuggerud, RW, STL at ANA (41% rostered) – FanDuel $5,700
Fresh off being named the NHL’s Rookie of the Month, Snuggerud has been held pointless in his past two games but the cold spell shouldn’t last very long. The Ducks have been giving up a lot of goals lately, never particularly stout on defense, and also expected to start unreliable backup Ville Husso. Snuggerud remains on L1 with Robert Thomas and Dylan Holloway, and teams up with Holloway again on PP2.
Brayden Schenn, C/LW, NYI vs. PHI (20% rostered) – FanDuel $4,900
It looks like Schenn’s finally found a comfortable spot in the lineup and enters this game on a three-game points streak with two multi-point games. Having an elite playmaker in Mathew Barzal on his right wing certainly helps. This is a tough matchup against a Flyers team that can be quite stingy, but the recent uptick in ice time and increased production from Schenn makes him an erstwhile streaming option.
Porter Martone, RW, PHI at NYI (4% rostered) – FanDuel n/a
Martone notched his first NHL point last night with a primary assist on Travis Konecny’s goal – it was overturned after an initial no-goal call – and he finished the game with the fifth-most ice time (18:15) among Flyers forwards and a team-high nine (!) shots on goal. He’s up to 14 shots in two games, indicating his immense offensive upside. Ice times for rookie players can be difficult to predict, but Martone is showing that his potential is worth the gamble.
