On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy hockey managers to stream, roster or utilize in standard leagues and/or DFS games. Players and goalies highlighted for streaming in standard leagues are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Jonathan Drouin, LW/RW, NYI vs. VAN (4% rostered) – FanDuel $4,500
The Isles will be without Bo Horvat, which means Mathew Barzal, Emil Heineman and Drouin will form their top line once again. Drouin is a boom-or-bust play because he either scores points or gets nothing, though for leagues that count face-offs, Drouin has been taking some draws. The upside for Drouin, though, is the ice time with at least 20 minutes played since returning from a back injury. The Canucks defense has been better lately but it’s typically been poor this season.
Marco Rossi, C, VAN at NYI (20% rostered) – FanDuel $5,300
Rossi has come close but he’s still looking for his first point as a Canuck. He’s playing L1 between Jake DeBrusk and Brock Boeser, two of the Canucks’ best wingers, and also PP1 for added upside. Without Quinn Hughes, the Canucks offense isn’t particularly dangerous and the Isles are a tough matchup with Ilya Sorokin, but Rossi is getting a lift in fantasy value since the trade due to his increased ice time.
Mikael Granlund, C/LW/RW, ANA vs. DAL (23% rostered) – FanDuel $5,800
Tough matchup for the Ducks though the Stars playing the second game of a back-to-back brings some reprieve. Granlund is currently centering the third line but plays PP1, and in his previous game skated 21:16 with a goal and an assist. He’s versatile and effective, which ensures Joel Quenneville will use him a lot. Being on home ice should give the Ducks the advantage for matchups as their third line with Granlund, Frank Vatrano and Troy Terry is better the Stars’ with Matt Duchene, Mavrik Bourque and Justin Hyrckowian should they go head-to-head.
