On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy hockey managers to stream, roster or utilize in standard leagues and/or DFS games. Players and goalies highlighted for streaming in standard leagues are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Jared McCann, C/LW, SEA vs. BOS (30% rostered) - FanDuel $5,900
Still really underrated and an assist in Calgary last night extended his points streak to four games. It’s still unfortunate the Kraken elect to spread out their ice time when McCann has been their top goal scorer since the franchise’s inception, but there’s little to complain about given his current production and shot volume. The Kraken offense is on a bit of a roll with 13 goals in their past three games, above what they’re usually capable of.
Josh Doan, LW/RW, BUF vs. VAN (19% rostered) - FanDuel $5,600
A tough matchup facing Thatcher Demko, but no doubt the Sabres have the edge in just about every area in this game. Doan can be a bit streaky but he’s scored three points in his past two games with four shots on net.
Jason Zucker, LW, BUF vs. VAN (10% rostered) - FanDuel $5,800
Zucker can be a very good multi-category contributor with longer-term value in standard leagues. He’s expected to play after missing the previous 11 games, lining up with Josh Norris and Alex Tuch on a big and physical scoring line. The Canucks defense isn’t deep enough to withstand a balanced Sabres attack, ensuring Zucker gets plenty of chances against favorable matchups.
Luke Evangelista, RW, NSH at EDM (10% rostered) - FanDuel $5,600
Hopefully, there are a lot of goals in this game, and it’s very possible considering how bad the Oilers have been defensively. They’ve allowed 11 goals in their past two games without a viable starter on their roster, while Evangelista just recently had his three-game points streak snapped but continues to be on pace for a career season. With the Preds potentially going with 11 forwards, Evangelista could be in line for increased ice time.
Denver Barkey, C, PHI vs. ANA (0% rostered) - FanDuel $4,300
Barkey might be too under-the-radar so Owen Tippett (31% rostered) is probably the better and safer option, but if you’re looking for a deep-league option, Barkey’s intriguing. Matvei Michkov did not skate Monday which puts his status for Tuesday’s game in doubt. The Ducks are slumping and their defensive play and goaltending have been lacking, which opens the door for Barkey (and Tippett, who play L2 together) to potentially play increased minutes. Barkey scored his first NHL goal in his previous game and he’s also showed an affinity for blocking shots.
