Unlock waiver wire gems! The Avalanche's Martin Necas, and the Sharks' William Eklund and Will Smith, ignite fantasy potential in their showdown.

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues and/or for daily fantasy games.

Martin Necas, RW, COL at SJ (98% rostered) – FanDuel $7,400

Necas responded with a goal and two assists after signing a big eight-year extension, and this is a favorable matchup for the Avs offense against a team that doesn’t defend very well and very willing to swap scoring chances. For a top-line player with elite scoring ability, Necas provides pretty good value in DFS games at this salary.

Dylan Holloway, C/LW, STL at CBJ (62% rostered) – FanDuel $4,800

The Blues have been forced to mix up the lines with Robert Thomas injured, but that hasn’t affected Holloway’s minutes. He’s played at least 18 minutes in four of his past five games, scoring four points during that span. While Jimmy Snuggerud plays on the top line, note Holloway is ahead of him on PP1. Jordan Kyrou offers similar upside and he’s at $5,700 while Snuggerud is $6,000; Holloway is a solid value play at this salary.

Dmitri Voronkov, LW, CBJ vs. STL (48% rostered) – FanDuel $5,100

Voronkov is getting a lot of attention in standard leagues and seen his percentage rostered number double over the past few days. This is a good matchup for a very good offensive teams against a team that can’t defend or stop pucks. Though Voronkov’s ice time has dipped, he maintains his L1 line and provides steady production while averaging two shots per game.

Will Smith, C/RW, SJ vs. COL (40% rostered) – FanDuel $5,200
William Eklund, LW, SJ vs. COL
(37% rostered) – FanDuel $5,600

The Sharks’ explosive offense is a very attractive streaming option and DFS play. Smith is back with Macklin Celebrini, and he’s scored four goals in his past five games, including a goal in two straight games. Eklund, meanwhile, carries a five-game points streak into this game and headlines the Sharks’ second scoring line, though both Smith and Eklund play PP1. They are expected to face former teammate Mackenzie Blackwood, who may be a little rusty making his first start of the season.

Jonathan Huberdeau, C/LW, CGY at NSH (29% rostered) – FanDuel $5,000
Morgan Frost, C, CGY at NSH (3% rostered) – FanDuel $4,400

The Preds and Flames average 2.8 goals apiece in their matchups, which is lower than average. I expect a similar result since both are having trouble scoring, but I do like the value proposition for this potential line stack. Huberdeau has registered an assist in three straight games while Frost has joined the top line and in the midst of a five-game points streak.

Evander Kane, LW, VAN at MIN (28% rostered) – FanDuel $4,700

Kane was robbed of his first goal of the season against the Blues after it was disallowed due to goalie interference, so perhaps the hockey gods will cut him some slack. Kane has been a top option for the Canucks at 5-on-5, and he’s expected to play a lot of minutes due to the Canucks’ slew of injuries. Kane’s slated to play PP1 and L2 with Lukas Reichel and the red-hot Kiefer Sherwood, who’s tied for the league lead with nine goals. The Wild have allowed the fourth-most goals per game this season.

Trevor Zegras, C/LW, PHI vs. TOR (26% rostered) – FanDuel $5,200

Zegras had his second three-point game in a week and he’s quietly putting together an impressive season. He’s played at least 18 minutes in three straight games and provided much-needed playmaking ability to a team that had trouble scoring last season. With Sean Couturier out, Zegras is expected to center the top line with Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett on his wings.
