On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues and/or for daily fantasy games.
Tyler Toffoli, LW/RW, SJ vs. WPG (44% rostered) –
FanDuel $5,100
Will Smith, C/RW, SJ vs. WPG (43% rostered) – FanDuel $5,600
The Sharks offense has been very good though this will be a stiff test. Toffoli and Smith have been riding on Macklin Celebrini’s coattails and scoring points in bunches. I think Toffoli and Smith’s ice time leaves a lot to be desired – they’re getting second/third-line minutes overall – but both have been pouring in the points and play PP1.
Jonathan Huberdeau, C/LW, CGY vs. CHI (34% rostered) – FanDuel $5,200
Huberdeau’s fantasy stock has fallen so much that no one seems to have noticed his six-game points streak. He is, by far, the Flames’ most talented playmaker, and despite the Hawks’ improvements this season still do not defend particularly well. It’s not often you can use a proven L1/PP1 player as a streamer or DFS value play.
Marcus Johansson, LW, MIN at NYI (18% rostered) – FanDuel $5,300
Johansson’s getting a ton of attention in fantasy lately. He’s been one of the league’s hottest players with a seven-game points streak playing on the top line with Marco Rossi and Kirill Kaprizov. Johansson’s a skilled player who’s most productive playing with elite talent in the top six – it hasn’t always been the case recently – so this is the most ideal spot for him. As long as he’s scoring, he’s a great DFS value play.
Vladimir Tarasenko, LW/RW, MIN at NYI (9% rostered) – FanDuel $4,700
Playing L2 with Matt Boldy and then with Boldy and Kaprizov on PP1 certainly helps. Tarasenko is an afterthought in fantasy without this role, and since getting promoted has scored a goal and four assists in his past three games. He is, however, very power-play dependent with three of his five points coming on the power play. The Isles PK ranks 29th in the league.
