Casey DeSmith, DAL at NSH (7% rostered) – FanDuel $7,500
Oettinger is coming off a 7-5 loss to the Ducks and the Stars play back-to-back this weekend, which means DeSmith might get this start. Either goalie will be a fine option, with DeSmith obviously being a streaming option in standard leagues. We can excuse the Stars for their poor defensive effort against a red-hot Ducks offense, and it’s highly unlikely they’ll allow many goals against the Preds, who rank 30th in goals for per game.
Ilya Sorokin, NYI at NYR (90% rostered) – FanDuel $7,100
This seems like a low price to pay for an elite goalie, even one that’s not playing very well, against a team that simply cannot score at home. The analytics say the Rangers are underperforming expected goals and should revert to the mean at some point, but in the meantime we can take advantage of their ignominious lack of offense.
Pyotr Kochetkov, CAR vs. BUF (66% rostered) – FanDuel $7,900
Not sure why Kochetkov is still available in so many standard leagues, but look for that to change in the coming weeks. He shut out the Rangers in his season debut and now faces a very shorthanded Sabres team without team captain Rasmus Dahlin. Kochetkov is 2-1-0 in his career against the Sabres with only five goals allowed at even strength. He may not face many shots but has a very good chance to earn his second win.
