On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Matvei Michkov, RW, PHI vs. BUF (45% rostered)
The Flyers aren’t out of the woods but maybe Brad Shaw provides a new coach bump. They snapped their six-game losing streak following John Tortorella’s firing, and Michkov shined with three points to extend his points streak to four games. The Sabres are playing well but still allowing plenty of goals with eight in three games.
Jonathan Drouin, LW/RW, COL vs. STL (25% rostered)
Drouin’s on fire playing on L1 with Nathan MacKinnon which, y’know, isn’t shocking at all. He’s scored a goal and six assists in his past four games, including five points on the power play where MacKinnon, Cale Makar or Valeri Nichushkin have also been involved. The Blues’ winning streak was narrowly snapped against the Preds, and there’s no team the Avs can’t score on. The Blues PK ranks 28th in the league.
Boone Jenner, C/LW, CBJ at OTT (25% rostered)
The Jackets are coming off a wild 7-6 shootout win against the Canucks with Jenner scoring three points, so fatigue might be a factor, but there’s no denying Jenner has really added more offense to an already impressive offensive club. He’s a multi-category contributor with high shot volume.
William Eklund, LW, SJ vs. NYR (18% rostered)
Eklund can be a little too streaky for my liking but the pucks are really bouncing his way. He scored in his third straight game after Joseph Woll passed the puck off Eklund’s skate into the Leafs’ net. The Rangers playing the second game of a back-to-back after blowing a lead and losing in overtime to the Ducks, and expected to start backup Jonathan Quick.
Vladimir Tarasenko, LW/RW, DET vs. BOS (6% rostered)
Tarasenko has been mediocre all season but note his three-game points streak against an opponent that’s playing like the worst team in the league with seven straight losses. There should be plenty of scoring opportunities for the Wings, who have been shut out only twice this season and none after Dec. 23. Tarasenko is playing L1 with Dylan Larkin and on PP2.
Brady Skjei, D, NSH vs. VGK (45% rostered)
The Knights PK… actually not that good. This will be an interesting matchup because the Knights PK actually isn’t that good, ranking 24th in the league despite allowing just 35 power-play goals all season, tied for fourth-fewest in the league. It’s possible because the Knights are the most disciplined team in the league with the fewest penalties taken, while the Preds have drawn the eighth-most penalties. If the Preds do end up getting on the power play, Skjei has been productive with two points in two games, both on the power play.
Tony DeAngelo, D, NYI at TB (19% rostered)
DeAngelo carries a four-game points streak into this game, and continues to play top-pair minutes and share PP1 with Noah Dobson. This is a tough matchup; the Lightning have been flat-out dominant, outscoring their opponents by a 14-1 margin, though remember the Lightning’s lone loss during a 9-0-1 run in February was at the hands of the Isles.
