Jason Chen and Michael Amato discuss how much goalie goals should be worth after Tristan Jarry scored the first ever in franchise history for the Penguins.
Tristan Jarry became the first goalie in Penguins history to score a goal on Nov. 30 against the Lightning.
He became just the ninth goalie in NHL history to shoot it directly into the net, and per NHL EDGE stats, Jarry's shot traveled a total of 175 feet.
That's great for Jarry and the Pens, but what about the fantasy managers who get left out in the cold? In the majority of default leagues, any player stats accumulated by goalies — goals, assists, shots, penalty minutes and the like — are not counted.
But what if they were? Considering the rarity of goalie goals, should they be worth more? Worth the same as 10 goals scored by players, perhaps? Or should it automatically win your head-to-head matchup?
