The Sleepers and Keepers fantasy hockey podcast hosts Jason Chen and Michael Amato wonder if this is the start of the Dustin Wolf era in Calgary.

Backup Dan Vladar is undergoing season-ending hip surgery, opening the door for Wolf to take over as the backup to Jacob Markström.

If Wolf plays well, it might set the table for the Flames to re-visit a trade for Markström, who was supposed to head to the Devils before the deal fell through at the 11th hour due to disagreements in salary retention.

Wolf, named the best goalie in the WHL twice and named the AHL MVP last season, is one of the league's top prospects in the crease. He's been constantly overlooked due to his lack of size, and with the Flames basically out of the playoff race, this is his chance to audition for a bigger role with the big club next season.
