Jason Chen and Michael Amato discuss Auston Matthews' incredible scoring pace. The Maple Leafs sniper is on pace to score at least 70 goals, which would make him the first player since the 1992-93 season to hit that milestone.
By definition, the answer is definitely 'yes,' Auston Matthews' 2023-24 campaign is the best season by a goal scorer in fantasy in over two decades. He's currently on pace to finish with 74 goals this season.
After all, he would be the first player since Teemu Selänne and Alex Mogilny to score at least 70 goals, who tied for the league lead with 76 goals each.
Of course, from a fantasy perspective, the downside with Matthews is the lack of total points, since his assist totals are generally lower than the league's elite.
But in leagues that value goals over points, there's no question Matthews is arguably the best fantasy player out there.
Here's the question: Is there any fantasy player you wouldn't trade for Auston Matthews?
