Jason Chen and Michael Amato discuss Max Pacioretty and Alex Ovechkin's fantasy value for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
The Sleepers and Keepers fantasy hockey podcast hosts Jason Chen and Michael Amato review Max Pacioretty's start with the Washington Capitals following two Achilles' injuries, and make note of Alex Ovechkin's improved scoring rate.
With a lack of scoring talent, the Caps are leaning heavily on their veterans, but so far it's been their goaltending that has helped them stay in the playoff hunt.
Pacioretty is skating on the top line but the Caps still lack a premier playmaker to set him up. Will stacking Pacioretty and Ovechkin on the top line make a difference?
The lack of a playmaker is similarly hurting Ovechkin's production. His goal-scoring rate has dropped but he also generates plenty of rebounds. Still on pace for career lows, Ovechkin has at least picked it up a little bit. Fantasy managers who bought low on Ovechkin previously have certainly benefitted.
