Jason Chen and Michael Amato discuss the slow start to the season for Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals.
The Sleepers and Keepers fantasy hockey podcast hosts Jason Chen and Michael Amato discuss the aging Capitals and Alex Ovechkin's slow start.
The Caps started the season with Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom (age 35) and T.J. Oshie (36) on the top line, and now it's Dylan Strome (26) and Matthew Phillips (25) in an attempt to get their top line rolling with a little more youth, speed and creativity.
In his age-38 season, Ovechkin's shots and hits totals have been declining, if ever so slightly, since his Rocket Richard-winning seasons. His career is already the stuff of legends, but Father Time is undefeated – is Ovechkin next in line?
When is it time to panic in fantasy hockey? Ovechkin will get on the board at some point and the Caps surely won't finish in the basement... hopefully.
It looks like the Caps are stuck in purgatory – not good enough to contend and not bad enough to be in the lottery.
