The Stars had been reluctant to break up their top line, but Johnston has now taken Joe Pavelski's spot and lining up next to Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz.
Johnston has so far capitalized with the new opportunity, include a three-assist effort against the Red Wings, and all three scoring plays included Hintz.
The talented sophomore is well on his way to another solid season for the Stars, and his ability to mesh well on the first line bodes well for his future as the Stars usher in their new young core.
