A memorable weekend: Carter Verhaeghe has Swaggy wedding, Sam Reinhart golfs with Stanley Cup

The core memories are stacking up for the Stanley Cup champion Panthers this summer

Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe speaks after Florida's 5-1 loss to Edmonton on June 21.

A pair of Florida Panthers known for their scoring abilities each enjoyed some unforgettable experiences over the weekend.

Back home in Vancouver, Sam Reinhart enjoyed his day with the Stanley Cup and, like many of his teammates, shared it with some of the special people from their hometown community.

Reinhart brought the Cup to Hollyburn Country Club, speaking to hundreds of people while posing for photos and signing autographs, according to CTV News Vancouver.

It was surely a memorable day for Reinhart, who also played some golf with his family and Lord Stanley, and caps off an eventful month for the goal scorer.

On the eve of free agency, Reinhart signed an eight-year extension with the Panthers worth $69 million, joining fellow core players Sasha Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Gus Forsling and Anton Lundell, who are all now signed through the next decade.

Back here in South Florida, Carter Verhaeghe also had a core memory kind of day, even if the Cup wasn’t involved.

Verhaeghe married longtime partner Casey Engelson at the Four Seasons Palm Beach on Saturday in what appeared to be a beautiful, scenic event, based off photos posted to social media.

When the couple hit the dance floor, they came out to “Turn My Swag On” by Soulja Boy, a nod to Verhaeghe’s nickname “Swaggy.”

Also known for his clutch goal scoring, the 28-year-old Verhaeghe enters the upcoming season on an expiring contract.

He is one of three players, along with Aaron Ekblad and Sam Bennett, who play key roles on the team and who will be free agents next July.

It will be interesting to see how Florida General Manager Bill Zito and his staff maneuver the situation.

Ideally, the Panthers would like to keep all three players, but the business of the game doesn’t always allow things to work out the way you want.

That being said, Zito has yet to do wrong by the Panthers.

We’ll see how it all plays out over the next several months.
