The good times just keep on rolling for Florida Panthers goaltender Alex Lyon.

On Monday Lyon will start his seventh consecutive game for the Panthers, looking to extend a six-game winning streak that has propelled Florida to the top of the Wild Card race.

His play in goal has been stellar, and now he’s being recognized on a much larger scale.

The NHL has named Lyon its Third Star of the Week.

Last week Lyon went 3-0-0 for the Panthers, stopping 117 of the 122 shots sent his way for a .959 save percentage to go with a tide 1.67 goals against average.

Included in those three wins was a career-high 56-save effort on Thursday against the Ottawa Senators.

“He's made, as goalies do when they get into a bit of a rhythm, he's made some tough saves look very easy,” Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice said Monday.

Over his past six games, Lyon is 6-0-0 with a 1.50 goals against average and .956 save percentage. He also collected his first NHL shutout on April 1 during a 7-0 win at Columbus.

The winning streak has taken the Panthers from the outside of the playoff picture to controlling their own destiny heading into the team’s final two home games.

Florida’s players have rallied around Lyon, and the results have spoken for themselves.

“He's been settled in the net, and the guys love him,” Maurice said. “Because of his personality and because of his work ethic."

Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon was the First Star of the Week and Seattle's Jordan Eberle was the Second Star.
